Expanding Our Campus: Buying 11 acres. 

A process which began now over a year ago (May 20, 2006) when the congregation voted to buy an 11 acre portion of the Harry & Victoria Kogelschatz property has been accomplished!Settlement on our land purchase occurred at the very end of 2007.

The property we have purchased is described by the red box in the photo (below). Our current campus (6.75 acres) is in the lower left quadrant of this photo.

In laying out the location (of the county required) newly forested areas a large amount of trees have been set to be planted in the four corners of the 11 acre parcel we are buying. Thus, in negotiations with the sellers we suggested that such planting was a net loss to us in usable land.

In return for that loss the sellers have added to our original 11 acres a right-of-way along the west side of our current property line (that is just along side of the cemetery) wide enough so that whenever we wish we could build a road linking the new 11 acre parcel (top half of the photo) with Sweet Air Road (at the bottom of the photo). This right-of-way is now a part of the total 11.86 acres we have purchased.

Our loan is with the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA, a twenty-five year loan at 6.5%.
