Support Amazing Grace’s Spring Fling!

on April 2, 2014 News with 0 comments

As you may know, Amazing Grace, located in Baltimore, is one of our mission partners.  They are in a “food desert”, meaning that access to fresh food is limited.  Each spring, they host a “Spring Fling” where they cook and serve approximately 300 people in their community. They also offer activities focused on health and wellness.  This year, the Spring Fling will take place on April 26th.  The Amazing Grace mission team is providing the non-perishable foods for the event. We will be collecting the items until April 12th and then delivering them on Palm Sunday (April 13th). Here are the ways you can help:

  1. Bring in one or more of the food items listed below and drop them in the labeled bin in the church
  2. Volunteer to help cook on 4/26 (If you do so, make sure you are back in time for the ever popular wine event in the fellowship hall at St John’s)
  3. Donate money to purchase the food items listed below:
  • paper plates, bowls, and cups
  • plastic utensils
  • paper napkins
  • condiments for burgers, hot dogs, etc.
  • salt and pepper
  • quinoa
  • brown rice
  • cans of black beans
  • cans of plain corn
  • edamame
  • tofu (if people happen across any that doesn’t need to be refrigerated)
  • olive oil
  • chile powder
  • sunflower seeds
  • walnuts
  • carob powder
  • flour
  • peanut butter
  • molasses
  • small and large Ziploc bags (not snack size)
